A square-rigger was a three-masted ship often used as a merchant ship, and due to it's size and was a spotlight targets for pirates everywhere. It wasn't fast, but it could carry a much larger complement of crew and cannons. It's arsenal included over 20 cannons with many swivel guns, and around 250 men.
